Rome for the Day

Had a great day today.  Plane ride was only an hour and the apt was only about 45 min from the Airport.  We took a taxi and then headed out on the Metro Rail....(Schindler Escalators !! go figure)  We went to the Fontana di Trevi, which was magnificent and the Pantheon and I feel like I done nothing but eat.  The people are nice and very friendly and the apartment that we are staying in is amazing.  Can't ask for a better place.  Huge balcony, kitchen and again....IT HAS A BIDAY (SP?).

We went to Trevi Fountain first thing and it was so crowded that we took a few pics and then went to the Pantheon, ate lunch.  We were Paizza Navona and Suzie & Jeremy had their portrait done while I walked around looking for a painting to buy.  The really nice thing is that I feel really safe.  During our excursions we have had to walk through a lot of really small alleys and even when there are people around, don't feel intimidated at all.

OK, ITS MORNING now and it is Sunday.  If I just stop in the middle of my sentence here, it is because we FORGOT TO BRING OUR ELECTRICITY CONVERTORS from Catania with us and we can't plug anything in. We were about to walk down to the the electronics store and buy one.  Everything here has the wierd three prong plugs.

Our time here so far has been very relaxing and the people are very laid back and tolerant of Americans who can't speak Italian.  Jeremy is helping me as I really want to 'try' to speak as much as I can while I am here.  I have got the "Il conto por favore" down pretty good (Check, please) but still get smiles when I say it, i'm sure because of my accent.   Most people know where Texas is....go figure.
We are taking the Metro and it is really easy.  About a  3 block walk from apt.  And you've never guess ---  Schindler Escalators !!

Oh yeah, and also    GO RANGERS....undefeated !!   They've only played two games but they've scored 22 runs......Jeremy has his Ipad with him so watched part of a game last night and watched the opening game at his house the night before last !!

Gelato !!
